1. Introduction
Suppscan ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application, which helps you scan and analyze dietary supplements.
2. Information We Collect
We collect minimal information necessary to provide and improve our services:
- Scanned Barcodes: When you scan a supplement, we send the barcode number to Open Food Facts API to retrieve product information. The barcode itself is not stored on our servers.
- Saved Supplements: Your list of "My Supplements" is stored locally on your device using iOS UserDefaults. This data never leaves your device.
- Tracking Logs: Your supplement intake logs and tracking data are stored locally on your device. We do not have access to this information.
- Usage Data: We may collect anonymous usage statistics to improve app performance and stability.
- Subscription Data: Payment processing is handled by RevenueCat and the Apple App Store. We do not store or have access to your payment card information.
3. Permissions We Request
Suppscan requests the following permissions to function correctly:
- Camera Access: Required to scan supplement barcodes using your device's camera. No photos or videos are stored.
- Photo Library Access: Optional, allows you to scan barcodes from previously taken photos.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use the information to:
- Fetch supplement information from Open Food Facts database.
- Calculate TrustScore and quality ratings for supplements.
- Track your supplement intake locally on your device.
- Update the home screen widget with your tracking progress.
- Process subscription payments via third-party providers.
We do not sell or rent your personal data to third parties.
5. Third-Party Services
We use the following specialized services:
- Open Food Facts API: An open-source, collaborative database for food and supplement products. We query this API with barcode numbers to retrieve product information.
- RevenueCat: For secure subscription management and in-app purchase processing.
- Apple App Store: For payment processing and subscription management.
6. Data Storage and Security
Your saved supplements, tracking logs, and preferences are stored locally on your device using Apple's UserDefaults and SwiftData frameworks. We do not maintain a central database of your personal supplement data. The widget accesses your data via iOS App Groups for display purposes only. We implement standard security measures to protect the integrity of the application.
7. Children's Privacy
Our app is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
8. Your Rights
